About Brent & Leigh Barnes

Meet the Barnes Family!

"This is amazing!  Do you realize what we've got our hands on?"

Long-time entrepreneurs Leigh and Brent Barnes of Dallas, Texas have had great success creating and operating their own businesses for many years. At age 16, Leigh started a wedding veil company that turned into a multi-million dollar operation.  Brent was a highly successful tax CPA and investment advisor.  His firm tallied nearly a thousand clients while managing millions of dollars in investments.  Yet, these businesses took their toll on the couple's health and lifestyle.

"Prior to Rodan + Fields, three out of the prior five tax seasons I had ended up in the hospital due to exhaustion," says Brent.

When a client of Brent's told Leigh about Rodan + Fields and mentioned the company was founded by the dermatologists who created Proactiv, Brent had two words for his wife: "You're in."  That's because Brent had experience as a stock analyst finding new companies to recommend to investors.  He knew the power of the Proactiv brand and the potential the doctors' new company offered.

"Brent saw the vision but I did not," says Leigh. "I just thought, 'I've got more than enough to deal with.'" But they jumped on board and in six months Leigh was devoting all of her time to their Rodan + Fields business. Soon after, they realized they had struck gold. "Brent looked at me and said, 'This is amazing!  Do you realize what we've got our hands on?" adds Leigh.

The Allure is Two-Fold

The potential for lucrative income wasn't the only reason Leigh became excited about her Rodan + Fields business.  She had a personal interest in joining the company.  She needed help clearing her cystic acne that had deleloped due to chemotherapy treatments to combat breast cancer.  She credits UNBLEMISH and ANTI-AGE eye cream for giving her healthier, clearer, more radiant and younger-looking skin.  "I tried seven eye creams going through cancer and could not find one that would work," she says.  "It took only three weeks to see dramatic differences with Rodan + Fields products."

The Power of Teamwork

"Every business has owned us, and now
we actually get to own a business we enjoy."

~Leigh Barnes

Leigh and Brent work as a team bilding their Rodan + Fields business.  Teamwork is the key to the success of their entire team.  Brent handles the administrative tasks and one-on-one training, and it is Leigh who is the outgoing one gathering referrals - an approach that has been very successful.  Here's how she does it: "I'm big on being crystal clear about what I want from someone," she says. "I'm not looking to recruit the world; I'm only looking for a few key people to build my business."

From her past experience as a business owner, Leigh knows that the people you surround yourself with will determine the quality of the company you ultimately create. When she asks people for referrals, she first explains that she wants just a few minutes of their fime.  Then she adds: "I'm working with the creators of Proactiv and I immediately thought of you.  I want to show you what I'm looking for."  She finds that people are more receptive to this non-threatening approach and are likely to join once they see their referrals getting involved.  "They don't want to miss the opportunity," says Leigh with a laugh.

Today, Leigh and Brent both work their Rodan + Fields business full-time. They sit on the Rodan & Fields Leadership Advisory Board. They are Lexus car acheivers and are titled RFX Circle Acheivers. They have enjoyed trips to Hawaii, Napa Valley, Italy, and just returned from Bora Bora from a trip with the Doctors. They love the flexibility the business offers them, especially when it comes to spending time with their two children.  In fact, Leigh says she and Brent often feel like pinching each other to make sure their current lifestyle is for real. "Every business has owned us, and now we actually get to own a business we enjoy," says Leigh. "I'm on cloud nine!"
